The Red Rock Subdivision is a line operated by the Railroad: BNSF Railway as of 1995. Constructed in the late 1800s by The Santa Fe Railroad & Southern Kansas Railway, which met at Purcell in the late 1800s. The line joins the Arkansas City Subdivision from the North End and then Gainesville Texas to the south. The line goes through most of the middle of Oklahoma. Crew change points on the Red Rock Subdivision are Oklahoma City, OK at BNSF Nowers Yard or BNSF Flynn Yard. This Subdivision connects many cities, of which some popular ones are Oklahoma City, Ardmore, Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma and many other cities.

History

The Red Rock Subdivision was constructed by The Santa Fe Railway from Purcell Oklahoma to the south part, and the northern part of Purcell was constructed by the Southern Kansas Railway. After it was completed, the Central Oklahoma Railway operated the line in the North, but the line went bankrupt about a year later, and then was acquired by the Santa Fe Railway, which they used until 1995, before the merger of BN and SF Railroads which formed BNSF. Now BNSF currently calls this line the Red Rock Subdivision.
