Red bloc is a distinct contingent at rallies or protests notable for carrying red flags, as well as dressing up in red, partially or completely, as well as often accompanied with communist or socialist iconography. It is similar in nature to a black bloc, although members of a red bloc tend to be from communist or state socialist organisations, and the purpose of the clothing and red flags are to demonstrate solidarity and uniformity, while displaying left-wing beliefs.

Red blocs have been seen demonstrating at events as a show of unity at occasions regarding traditional left-wing beliefs.[1] Red blocs have also appeared at other events with black blocs.

The term has also been used as an alternate spelling of Red Block, referring to the Communist nations during the Cold War, and to a coalition of political parties established for the sake of forming a parliamentary majority. [2]
