Reed Frerichs - Producer

Reed Frerichs (born October 8, 1971) is an entrepreneur, multimedia producer, filmmaker, and actor.

Frerichs has appeared in film and on television[1][2][3][4]. Currently, he is the founder of SkyPath Media[5] with managing partner Chip Flaherty who is a founding executive of Walden Media (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Giver, Everest, Wonder)[6]. SkyPath Media produces and distributes films with inspirational and transformative themes, such as "The Lesson," a series of inspirational films interviewing famous film producers and sports legends.

Early Influences[edit]

Frerichs grew up in San Antonio, Texas. His strongest influences were his parents and two sisters. He credits his dad and mom for instilling the importance of temperance, diligence, kindness and humility.[7] Frerichs attended college at The University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.[8]

Professional Career[edit]

In 1995, Frerichs began a professional career in acting when he was cast in a supporting role in the Disney movie Powder[9] that starred Jeff Goldblum and Mary Steenburgen.

Soon thereafter, he landed supporting roles in several Film and Television projects including the NBC movie She Fought Alone[1] with Brian Austin Green and Tiffany Amber Thiessen, Ed Zwick’s Courage Under Fire[4] starring Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan and Matt Damon, and the mini-series True Women[3] starring Angelina Jolie.

In 1998, Frerichs booked a lead role on the ABC pilot Push[2].  The pilot became a mid-season replacement and short-lived series for the network[10]. One of the actors in the original pilot was Jeremy Renner[2].

Frerichs continued to work on other films and television series including JAG, Pacific Blue, Beyond Belief, Medium, Saving Jessica Lynch, Out at the Wedding, and Mexican Sunrise.

In 2008, Frerichs went back to finance for a couple years, working as an equity trader for a money management fund during the financial crisis.[8]

In 2012, Frerichs worked as an Executive Producer on the motion picture Exists, which was produced by Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings ) and directed by Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project). Soon thereafter, Frerichs successfully pitched the Christmas movie, Santa Hunters, to Nickelodeon and served as Executive Producer[11].

Currently, SkyPath Media[5] focuses on projects with evergreen content that galvanize, affirming themes, where Frerichs is producing and directing The Lesson series.
