Rei Cine is a film production company based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was founded in 2010 by producers Santiago Gallelli, Benjamin Domenech and Matias Roveda.

History

Since its early stages, the company focused on the development and production of arthouse films, helmed by the most daring and challenging voices of the Latin American scene. Thanks to its network with several countries of America and Europe, their films have premiered in the most important film festivals of the world (Cannes, Berlín, Venecia, Sundance, New York, Toronto, Locarno, Karlovy Vary).

Among its latest productions are the critically acclaimed Zama by Lucrecia Martel, (acknowledged as one of the best films of 2019 by New York Times.[1], New Yorker[2] and FIPRESCI[3]), The Accused by Gonzalo Tobal (selected for the Official Competition of the Venice Film Festival[4] and then released in over 30 countries), The Queen of Fear by Valeria Bertuccelli and Fabiana Tiscornia (winner of a Special Jury Prize in the Sundance Film Festival[5] and Hunting Season by Natalia Garagiola (winner of the Settimana de la Crítica in Venice Film Festival[6] and Macau Film Festival Grand Prix[7]).

In 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invited the company founders to join among its newest members[8]
