Rein Maychaelson (born May 20, 1993) is an Indonesian director and screenwriter, known for his short films, web series, commercials, and music videos. Known for his quirky style and storytelling in each of his work, he has gained recognition, winning Rising Filmmaker at Popcon Asia 2018.[1]. He has also won both Viddsee Juree Awards in 2016[2] and 2018[3] with his films Udin Telekomsel and Errorist of Seasons, respectively. His works have been screened in over 20 film festivals across the world, including Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF).
Maychaelson is the founder of Rubamera Creative Lab, an independent production and creative lab based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The first project launched by Rubamera Creative Lab is an independently produced web series on YouTube titled Neo Batavia[4]. Neo Batavia's episodes raise awareness over tolerance, especially in Indonesia, which has many diverse religions and backgrounds[5]
