Remy Khalil Wehbe, (14 December 1967) is the director of Remy Wehbe Investments as well as the director of Oz Arab Media.[1]. He is also the founding president of the Australian Lebanese Football Association (ALFA)[2], a member of the Lions Club of Canterbury-Bankstown, a member of the Maronite Catholic Society, and an active member of the Australian Labor Party[3].

Early years[edit]

Remy is the eldest of two sons born to Taghrid and her husband retired Brigadier General Khalil Wehbe in a Christian household.

Remy Wehbe served in the Lebanese Army for 18 years and attained the rank of Major[4]. He also pursued various military courses in the United States of America between 1990 and 2008, and was awarded the Army Commandant's List award from the US Army alongside other merit awards from the Lebanese military corps.

In 2008, Remy moved to Sydney along with his wife Linda and his children.

Business and Personal Interests[edit]

Upon moving to Sydney, Australia, Remy Wehbe took over the management of various entreprises which included media, education, childcare, petrol, real estate, and other industries.

Alongside a group of football enthusiasts and professionals from Lebanon and Australia, Remy Wehbe founded and presided over the Australian Lebanese Football Association and conducted the first Arab Bank Cup in 2013[5]. The association conducted tournaments annually every year since 2013 and only stopped briefly during the COVID pandemic to resume again in 2022[6].

In 2015, Remy Wehbe was appointed as an Ambassador for the Asian Soccer Cup in Australia[7] alongside around 150 other ambassadors from different countries[8].

In partnership with Charbel Tadros in 2021, Remy Wehbe founded Oz Arab Media - an online Arabic and English news platform - in order to give a clearer and more up-to-date voice to Arabs in Australia in general and the Lebanese diaspora in particular. Under his leadership, Oz Arab Media partnered with a variety of organisations including the Canterbury-Bankstown Chamber of Commerce[9], The Salvation Army Bankstown Corps[10][11], and the Lebanese Film Festival[12][13]

Political life[edit]

Remy Wehbe joined the Australian Labor Party in 2011 and has been a memeber ever since. In 2016, he was elected as Assistant Secretary of the Condell Park Branch[14]. In 2017, he moved his membership to the Georges Hall/Yagoona Branch where he was elected as the Branch President in 2020.
