Renaud Dumora was born on 4 July 1965 in Bordeaux, and is a French corporate officer. Since 19 May 2021, he has been Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas, Head of Investment & Protection Services (Asset Management, Private Banking, Real Estate and Insurance) after being Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Cardif from 2016 to 2021.

Biography

Renaud Dumora's family is from Arcachon, and his parents are both university teachers, one in psychology and the other in physics. At a very young age he had a strong interest in IT with the advent of the first personal computers, and describes himself as a ‘geek well ahead of time’. He also has a passion for theatre, particularly for the Festival d'Avignon, of which he is especially fond.[1]

Education

Renaud Dumora graduated from École Polytechnique in 1989. In 1991, he graduated from the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique) (ENSAE) and the French Institute of Actuaries (Institut des actuaires français).[2]

Career

Renaud Dumora's career began in 1990 when he joined the Compagnie Bancaire, where he served as head of statistical studies and then as management controller.

Between 1994 and 2000, Renaud Dumora joined Cardif and became head of creditor insurance actuary services. He then held several positions there before becoming head of the actuarial services of BNP Paribas Assurance in 2000.[3]

In 2004, Renaud Dumora became director of the global protection business line before being appointed as international co-director in 2007. He has also been a member of the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas Cardif since 2007.

Starting in 2009, he took the role of head of the Finance and Risk Department of BNP Paribas Cardif. In 2012, he became Chief Executive Officer of this department. The legal department was added to these responsibilities in 2014.

In 2015, Renaud Dumora became Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Cardif.[3] Alongside Pierre de Villeneuve, he contributed to the implementation of the company's strategy, based on the diversification and the automation of its activities into the property & casualty business and on the internationalisation of the insurance Group's savings and protection activities in Europe, Asia and South America.[4]

In 2016, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Cardif and joined the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas.[2]

In 2021, Renaud Dumora became Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas, in charge of the Group's Investment and Protection Services (IPS) division, dedicated to savings, investment, protection and real estate services.[5] He is also Chairman of BNP Paribas Cardif, of which Pauline Leclerc-Glorieux was appointed Chief Executive Officer.[6]

Investing

Renaud Dumora's missions at the head of IPS are to boost its ability to innovate, anticipate major social, economic and environmental changes, with projects such as E-office within BNP Paribas Real Estate, or continuing to support intrapreneurs within the Bivwak![7]

The MonDemain platform was launched in 2021 to allow reallocation of savings to sustainable business models.[8][9]

BNP Paribas Asset Management, one of the IPS division's business lines, acquired the fintech company, Gambit Financial Services[10] specialised in digital solutions for investment advice, and BNP Paribas Real Estate developed the Wired project using data and AI, providing digital solutions and data visualisation tools to create additional banking services such as real estate, socio-economic and environmental information by allowing users to immerse themselves in the augmented visualisation of a city, neighbourhood or building.[11]

At the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit, Renaud Dumora presented the Grand Prize of the 7th edition of the international Deep Tech start-up competition in 2021, to Atlant3D Nanosystems, a Danish company that has developed a nanoscale 3D printing technology.[12]

Involvement

Renaud Dumora is deeply involved in helping companies change their attitudes toward disabilities. He is a sponsor of BNP Paribas Ability,[13] a support network for employees directly or indirectly affected by a disability or chronic illness.

In this context, BNP Paribas Cardif is a partner of the Handitech Trophy,[14] a call for projects developing inclusive technologies to compensate for disability or loss of autonomy through AI, robotics or digital technology.

His commitment to gender equality led BNP Paribas' entire Executive Committee, of which Renaud Dumora is a member, to sign the Jamais sans Elles charter, which commits signatories to not participating in an event that does not include at least one woman out of every three stakeholders.[15]
