Renen Mosinzon (Born July 28, 1977) is an Israeli cultural entrepreneur, social activist and media personality.

Biography[edit]

Mosinzon was born in Tel-Aviv and is the daughter of artist Hana Mishinsky and author and playwright Yigal Mossinson, the older sister of professional basketball player Gili Mossinson, the cousin of author Dvora Omer and the poet and copywriter Vered Mosenzon. Mosinzon studied in Alon High School’s film department. In 1992, still a high school student,

Mosinzon took her first step in media and became “Yedioth Tel-Aviv” newspaper’s culture reporter. Throughout the years Mosinzon participated in the establishment of various media outlets such as the “Zman Tel-Aviv” weekly newspaper that belonged to the “Maariv” Group, the “Kvish 40” (Road 40) magazine (partnered by Michal Romi), Volume - Cellcom’s (Israel) record label and more.

At the age of 16 she began her path as a journalist for the “Hadashot” newspaper. From 1994 to 2000 Mosinzon held the position of culture correspondent for the “Shiv’a Yamim” (Seven Days) Magazine that also belongs to the “Yedioth Ahronot” group.

In 2000 she retired from journalism and moved to Mitzpe Ramon in southern Israel, where she became a certified therapist and worked with special needs children.

In 2005 Mosinzon returned to the media and held a number of positions such as Content Manager for the Logia Group and Head of the Development Department in Matar Productions. In this position she created, along with Ma’ayan Blum and Oded Semo, the “Makom Le-Da’aga” sketch comedy show that was characterised by its nonsensical and black comedy style. The show starred Dvir Benedek, Ilanit Ben Yaakov and Sharon Stark and was broadcasted on the Israeli Channel 10 in the years 2008-2009.

In 2010 Mosinzon initiated the production of the television series “Hasamba G3”, that was based on the “Hasamba” book series written by her father. Mosinzon served as the series’ artistic productor and as a production consultant. Upon the airing of the T.V series “Yedioth Ahronot” re-published the first ten books in the series with an added dictionary meant to explain the obsolete terms featured in the books. In 2010, Mosinzon was featured as a main character in the three-part documentary film series “It Runs in the Family” by Nitzan Gilady, which documented her life and work as a second generation artist and publicist.

HaYarkon Seventy[edit]

In 2007 Mosinzon rented, along with Rona Keinan, a floor in an apartment building located in HaYarkon Street number 70 in Tel-Aviv. Throughout the years the location became an open apartment for artists that held various culture and music related exhibits and events.

Ten years later the creative haven expanded and became the “Halalit BaYarkon 70” (The Spaceship at HaYaron St. 70) a gallery that combined old, such as Amos Keinan and Uri Lifschitz and new such as Uri Gershoni, Yochai Matos, Adi Nes and Rafat Hatab.

In 2000 Mosinzon established the “Kvish 40” (Road 40) magazine “for and on the culture and environment of Israel’s southern villages”. Since 2004, Mosinzon has held the position of chief editor of the “HaYarkon 70 News Company” - a weekly news program. The program was independently produced, free of charge, by a group of a few dozen media professionals - reporters, editors, directors, photographers, journalists, producers and designers such as Linoy Bar-Geffen, Nesli Barda, Itay Anghel, Aviv Lavi, Gal Gabai, Meron Rapoport and more.

In 2012 Mosinzon received the Pratt Award for environmental journalism. In 2016 she received the “Walking Man” award for independent and fearless Israeli media and for devoted voluntary instruction of young writers and artists. From 2007-2015 Mosinzon managed the Halalit Gallery in Tel-Aviv. The gallery hosted artists, performance art, exhibitions, reading events and writers and served as a magnetic cultural hub and open space for intellectuals, artists and cultural entrepreneurs.

In the summer of 2015, Mosinzon established the “Halalit TV”, a cultural-educational-social media outlet whose purpose is to preserve the past, document the present and produce the future. The channel hosts the People's News Company, and the Consolidation of Independent Media Initiatives.
