rentandes (legal name Rentandes S.A.S.) is a Colombian company that provides operating leases (Spanish: arrendamiento operativo) of vehicles, trucks, machinery and equipment to businesses. Founded in 2000 and based in Bogotá, the company buys productive assets and leases them to client companies under multi-year contracts, keeping ownership of the assets and the operating responsibilities that come with them.[1][2] Since 2019 it has been owned by the investment group 23 & Park.[3]
History
rentandes was established in 2000 as a vehicle and machinery leasing business in Colombia.[4] In June 2019 it was acquired by 23 & Park, a group of Colombian and foreign investors focused on the active management of small and medium-sized companies.[3] The purchase was led by Álvaro Orbes, a former investment banker at Credit Suisse and member of the Latin American private-equity infrastructure team at Brookfield, who became the company's chief executive and by Daniel Palacios, partner at 23 & Park who joined the Board of Directors. Forbes Colombia reported the transaction at an estimated US$50 million, a figure the parties did not confirm.[1] Forbes Colombia reported that the business first contracted during an integration period before returning to growth, which it placed at roughly 20 to 30 per cent a year by 2025.[5][4]
In 2025, it reported having reached $1 billion pesos (~USD250 million) in asset purchases throughout its 25 years of existence.[6]
Business model
rentandes operates as an operating lessor rather than a lender: it buys assets, owns them, and leases them to clients for monthly payments, typically under contracts of two to six years.[1][2] Operating leasing (arrendamiento operativo) is distinct from a finance lease: the lessor keeps ownership and residual-value risk and re-leases or resells the asset at the end of the term. The company's services include fleet management, maintenance, insurance and telematics, and its client base is weighted toward small and medium-sized enterprises.[4][1]
Financing and expansion
In April 2026, IDB Invest (Spanish: BID Invest), the private-sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank, provided rentandes with senior local-currency financing of up to US$12 million: a committed tranche of up to US$8 million and an uncommitted tranche of up to US$4 million, each for terms of up to six years. The financing was intended to widen access to machinery, equipment and productive fleets, including electric and hybrid vehicles and Euro VI trucks, for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.[2]
In June 2026, rentandes acquired the portfolio of operating-lease contracts that a competitor held in Colombia, taking on close to 1,000 vehicles. The transaction was an acquisition of contracts rather than of the company, and its value was not disclosed.[7][8]
Ownership
Since 2019 rentandes has been part of 23 & Park, an investment group that acquires and manages companies in Colombia, with a stated focus on asset-based businesses and related services.[3] Following its 2019 investment, 23 & Park recapitalised the company and worked with the existing management team to support its growth.[3] It later led rentandes to two subsequent acquisitions in its industry.

rentandes was one of the founding members of Asorenting, the Colombian association of renting companies, formed in 2014 together with Avis-Mareauto and Equirent.[9][10]
