History[edit]

Repton School was originally founded in 1557 at the bequest of Sir John Port of Etwall in Derbyshire, who left funds to establish a grammar school in Repton after his death. But it wasn't until 1559 that permission was granted for buildings at the site of Repton Priory for the school.

The school is also well known for some of their more famous alumni, including writer Roald Dahl, and television presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
