History[edit]
Repton School was originally founded in 1557 at the bequest of Sir John Port of Etwall in Derbyshire, who left funds to establish a grammar school in Repton after his death. But it wasn't until 1559 that permission was granted for buildings at the site of Repton Priory for the school.
