Residence Halls of UML
Residence halls are buildings belonging to a university that serve as living quarters for students. Bourgeois Hall, Donahue Hall, Fox Hall, Leitch Hall, University Suites, River Hawk Village, Concordia Hall, Sheehy Hall, Riverview Suits, Riverview East, and the Inn and Conference Center are all residence halls that belong to the University of Massachusetts Lowell. All of these lodgings are located in Lowell, Massachusetts, and residents of these halls are all students studying at Umass Lowell. Throughout all of the buildings there are rooms to study, lounge, and to hold large meetings for residence hall events. [1]
General information on Residence Halls on the East Campus[edit]
Bourgeois Hall, Donahue Hall, Fox Hall, Leitch Hall, University Suites, and River Hawk Village are (inside of the cluster of residence halls) located on the East Campus of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Additionally, both the Campus Recreation Center and the university's largest cafeteria, Fox Dining Commons, are right across the street from these residence halls--the only exception is Fox Hall which houses the dining hall and is directly next to the Campus Recreation Center (CRC). A garage for parking is located close to these residential halls: East Campus parking garage. Residents of these halls will be able to take a shuttle that stops in front of their building to and from the campus. These buildings are a walk away from the Tsongas Center and LeLacheur Park, home ground to the Umass Lowell Hawk Hockey team, Umass Lowell River Hawk Baseball team, and the Lowell Spinners--affiliated with the Boston Red Sox.
Bourgeois Hall[edit]
Bourgeois Hall was named after Homer Bourgeois, a banker and philanthropist who generously gave money to Umass Lowell to construct the building. It hosts more than 300 male and female students in their first year of college at the University of Lowell. There are rooms for leisure, for study, and to hold gatherings. The LEARN program is stationed here.[2]
Donahue Hall[edit]
Students of Umass Lowell who decide to reside in Donahue Hall can live in suites with three, five, or seven other people. Each suit comes with a private restroom and lounge area, a room for reducing stress and socializing. It hosts approximately 340 students. When it was built it was originally called North Hall, but was renamed in respect of Richard King Donahue who served on the University Board of Trustees and was a chair for two years. From 1987-1990, he was a member of the University of Lowell Building Authority.[3]
Fox Hall[edit]
Rooms in Fox Hall are designed to house two, three, and up to four students. The building is home to one of UMass Lowell's student-dining halls, Fox Campus Dining Commons. Leitch Hall[edit]
Doubles and quads are available for residents of Leitch Hall. The Developing Leaders in Engineering Living-Learning Community is housed in this building in the center of East Campus where Engineering, Science, Technology, or Mathematics majors are given the resources to UMass Lowell Alumni and local businesses. There are rooms for socializing and studying. The Lion’s Den common room is in this hall, which is a popular hangout room for students.[5]
University Suites[edit]
Rooms in University Suites are designed to house from four to six students with plenty of lounge area. The Commonwealth Honors Living Learning Community is housed here, reserved for students who have been accepted into the honors program. Each suit has a kitchen containing a refrigerator and sink. On each floor, there are two large areas to relax and cafeterias, along with plenty of study space spread around the floors. In addition, there is a huge lounge area and kitchen on the ground floor with a beautiful courtyard in the front for residents to take full advantage of. [6]
River Hawk Village[edit]
Amenities of River Hawk Village include a full kitchen, lounge area(including pool tables and ping pong tables), in-unit laundry, and restrooms. Fast WiFi is provided for residents, as well as common spaces and study places for groups which are provided on each floor. Residents can enjoy the views of the canal, Merrimack River and LeLacheur Park. Security measures include staff offices which are situated in the lobby. Residents can choose from a variety of floor plans. They range from studio units that are fitted with two people, to Townhouse Deluxe units that contain more than one floor of living area. [7]
General information on Residence Halls on the South Campus[edit]
Concordia Hall, Sheehy Hall, Riverview Suites, and Riverview East are (inside of the cluster of residence halls) located on the South Campus of the University of Massachusetts Lowell. There are several lots available for student parking on South Campus, and the school buses function throughout the school day to transport students from South to either North or East Campus. Both campuses are close by and can be reached by taking the bus, walking, or biking. There are even free bike rental programs, where one can rent a bike and return it to one of five check-out stations. The buildings are right across from Merrimack River, which can be easily viewed from South Campus residence halls. Residents have direct access to classes, the library, cafeteria, and Starbucks that are located on South Campus. The McGauvran Center, which is home to one of UMass Lowell's student-dining halls, South Campus Dining Commons, is also easily accessible by residents of any of these halls.
Concordia Hall[edit]
Singles and double co-eds are available for residents of Concordia Hall. The building’s dimensions are 6 floors and 73 feet.[8] The center of South Campus is located here. [9]
Sheehy Hall[edit]
Rooms in Sheehy Hall are suits. They are designed to house four, six, and up to eight students, each with a private bathroom and lounge space. In 1989, when this hall was newly constructed, It was named in respect for Paul J. Sheehy, a Massachusetts States Representative who had graduated from Umass Lowell. He played an important role when Lowell Technological Institute and Lowell State College were merged in 1975 to form the University of Massachusetts Lowell. [10]
Riverview Suites[edit]
Four- and six-person apartments are available for residents of Riverview Suites. Each apartment comes with a cafeteria, common areas, and private restrooms. There are plenty of areas to relax and converse, along with study room spots spread throughout the hall. There is a gym on the ground floor, in addition to a footbridge connecting the residence hall to the--Riverview--parking lot. [11]
Riverview East[edit]
Four- and six-person suits are available for residents of Riverview East. Each suite has built-in partial kitchens, common areas, and restrooms. Amenities include a game room, gym and multiple rooms for hosting speakers which are all located on the ground floor. [12]

Inn and Conference Center[edit]
Rooms in the Inn and Conference Center—or ICC—are only designed to house two students. Amenities include bathrooms in each room, dining facilities in the hall, a new Learning Commons, and private temperature controls. There is easy access to downtown Lowell, Massachusetts with plenty of restaurants and entertainment options close by. Additionally there is an area for students to park nearby, as well as shuttles going from South to the other Campuses. [13]
