Resource One Credit Union (R1CU)[2] is a not-for-profit, member-owned, cooperative credit union located in Texas. Resource One’s field of membership includes anyone residing or working in Dallas and Northwest Harris counties. Currently, Resource One has 11 branch locations and serves over 65,000 Credit Union members. R1CU is regulated under the authority of the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)[3] of the U.S. federal government.
Field of Membership
Resource One Credit Union memberships are available to anyone who works or lives within their field of membership. Additionally, Resource One offers membership eligibility to companies and organizations known as Select Employee Groups (SEG). Eligibility is also available to those who have a relative who is a current Resource One Credit Union member.[4]
History
July 15, 1936, a group of employees from the Catalog Order Plant of Sears, Roebuck, and Company worked together to found the Sears Dallas Employees Federal Credit Union (SEFCU).[5]
The 2020s - Resource One Credit Union serves over 65,000 members throughout Dallas and Northwest Harris Counties with over 195 employees and 11 branches.
Designations
CDFI - Resource One Credit Union is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI)[6], certified by the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, allowing R1CU to provide credit and financial services to underserved populations within their local communities. R1CU is the only bank or credit union designated as a CDFI chartered in Dallas and Harris Counties.
Juntos Avanzamos[7] - Resource One Credit Union has been recognized as an Inclusiv[8] credit union committed to serving and empowering Hispanic consumers.
Low-Income - Resource One Credit Union qualifies as a low-income designation financial institution[9]. This designation allows the Credit Union to offer its services at a more affordable rate for those who are underserved or unserved by traditional financial institutions.
