Rhinowash is a Scottish family-owned company that operates UK wide and is known for manufacturing and servicing their own range of premium industrial pressure washers.

Headquartered in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire in Scotland and founded in 1975, they manufacture and supply professional high-pressure cleaning equipment to the transport, local authority and plant and construction industries.

The company is the UK's biggest manufacturer of modular pressure washers and on-site washing systems and they currently employ 16 people in their Scottish headquarters.

History

Rhinowash was founded by Denis Burns in 1975 in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland as Power Washing Plant Hire. Initially the company focused on industrial cleaning and supplied pressure washers on hire. In 1977 and 1978 respectively, the company secured two patents with Justia patents for a Surface cleaning device and a Diaphragm pump with pulse piston position responsive work fluid replenishment.[1].

In 1979, Rhinowash secured a contract with BP to decontaminate and clean-up the mooring jetty at Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in Shetland. In 1980, in response to shortcomings identified in the marketplace, the company took the design, manufacturing and servicing of pressure washers in house. This prompted the business to innovate and design the first ever static cabinet pressure washer.

In 1998 Rhinowash diversified and strengthened their offering with the acquisition of market leader Warwick Pump and Engineering, to form Scotkleen Warwick, investing £250,000 in the site and securing their position as the UK’s biggest manufacturer of modular pressure washers[2].

In 2004, Rhinowash invented and launched their Quick Swap Modular Design, a unique offering that allows for an unparalleled service response time.

In 2009, the company officially rebranded under the new flagship name, Rhinowash[3] to better serve their growing global market.

In 2020, Rhinowash invested in both a new website and app-based software for their field service engineers, to improve the communications and data handling internally, which will in turn benefit their customers[4]. The company also expanded its factory and customer facing teams, from 2 to 5 employees.

Today, the family-owned company continues to innovate, manufacture and service their own range of premium industrial pressure washers, with a customer focused business strategy. They service clients in a variety of industries such as Network Rail, Volvo, Scania and Ministry of Defence. Rhinowash also recently announced the extension of their contract with the Scottish Ambulance Service[5], through recent upgrades of legacy equipment, ranging from 12 to 30 years old, as well as orders for 3 new site locations[6]
