The Rhode Island State Energy Center is a 583 MW combined cycle natural gas power station in Johnston, RI. It is the highest-capacity power station in Rhode Island.
Design[edit]
The plant consists of two combined cycle units. Each unit consists of a 185 MW Siemens Westinghouse gas turbine, and a heat recovery steam generator equipped with Forney duct burners.[1]
History[edit]
The plant first entered commercial service in 2002. Entergy purchased it in 2011, before selling it to Carlyle Power Partners in 2015.[2] The plant has been owned by Carlyle and managed by Cogentrix since 2015.[3]Thai power producer Egco purchased a 49% stake in 2023.[4]
