Rhondda Outlaws R.L.F.C
Rhondda Outlaws Rugby League Football Club is an amateur rugby league club based in the Rhondda Valley, Wales. Founded in 2015, the club fields men's, women's and junior teams and competes in Welsh domestic rugby league competitions. The Outlaws play their home matches at Taffs Well R.F.C as of January 2026.
The club won the Welsh Rugby League Premier League in 2019 and 2022 and has represented Wales in national competitions including the Challenge Cup 2020 and 2023 respectively.
History
Formation
Rhondda Outlaws R.L.F.C. was founded in 2015 by Leon Green and his son Cobi Green. The club initially focused on junior rugby league development before expanding into open-age competition. A formal club constitution was established during its early years to support long-term growth and governance.[1]
Expansion into senior rugby
In 2017, the Outlaws introduced a senior men’s team, entering the Welsh domestic rugby league structure. The club continued to expand, establishing women’s and additional junior teams, contributing to the development of rugby league in South Wales.
Ground
In 2019, Rhondda Outlaws secured a permanent home at Glyncoch Sports & Social Club, formerly the ground of Glyncoch RFC. The move marked a significant milestone for the club and for community rugby league in Wales, providing a stable base for fixtures, training, and community engagement. After 5 years at Glyncoch, Taffs Well R.F.C is set to once again host regular community rugby league with it being the former home of Cardoff Demons
Competitions
Domestic
The club competes in the Welsh Rugby League Premier League and associated age-grade competitions. Rhondda Outlaws won the Welsh Rugby League Premier League title in 2019 and 2022.
National
Following their domestic success, Rhondda Outlaws entered the Challenge Cup for the first time in 2020 travelling north to Barrow island, competing in the first round of the Rugby Football League’s national knockout competition. Then following up their first appearance with another in 2023 travelling to Hull Dockers.
Community and development
Rhondda Outlaws operate a strong community and development programme, fielding junior teams at multiple age levels, as well as a women’s team. The club places emphasis on volunteer involvement, youth pathways, and increasing participation in rugby league within the Rhondda Valley. As off September 2025 260 young players formed the Outlaws age grades.
Players from the club have progressed to regional representative teams and national squads at youth and senior levels.
Colours and badge
The club traditionally plays in green and black colours, reflecting its local identity and branding.
