Rhythm and Pixels is a weekly podcast which focuses on the appreciation of video game music. It was created in 2015 by life-long friends Rob Nichols and Pernell Vaughan. Rob and Pernell function as hosts and music presenters of the podcast, while Rob is the producer and audio technician for the show. The show has the hosts bring songs composed for classic and modern video games to fit within that particular episodes theme. Themes have ranged from the objective, such as video game consoles and musical styles, to the subjective, such as emotion and feeling. The end of each episode is reserved for musical arrangements and remixes titled The Bonus Round. Many artists featured in The Bonus Round have gone on to be guests featured in a future episode. After each song is played, Rob and Pernell discuss the music's context within the game and how it resonates with them personally. Music and game discussion quickly turns to irreverent humor and singing along with the music called "VGM Karaoke".
