Lacerda joined Chase Manhattan in New York. Later, the company merged with J.P. Morgan and became JP Morgan Chase.

Goldman Sachs

In the USA, between 1996 and 2001, he was vice president of the investment bank Goldman Sachs. Later, he became CEO at Goldman Sachs in Brazil until 2005.

The company led the 2003 and 2004 Rankings of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Financial Advisers in Brazil[7].

Citibank

He was managing director of the investment bank for Citibank Latin America (2007 to 2009) and Brazil (2005 to 2009).

In 2007, under his management, he led Citibank to the top of the M&A rankings in Brazil. Lacerda advised on 11 operations in the first half of that year, which totalled US$8.5 billion.

BR Partners

In 2009, together with other partners, Ricardo Lacerda founded BR Partners Group, an independent Brazilian Investment Bank. In addition to being a co-partner, he is the current CEO.

BR Partners Group operates with Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Structured Credit, Private Equity, Treasury and Fixed Income.

The proceeds are being used to expand its balance sheet in capital markets and structured treasury products operations for their clients[13].

Political Positioning

Lacerda is one of the most active and forceful voices in the Financial Market in openly analysing the country's political scene. Recently, in one of his speeches, he said that the Brazilian main business people should have done a “mea-culpa” for supporting the last president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro[14] and publicly he also defends the Congress political project regarding equal wages between men and women[15].

Ricardo is also a supporter of the third way for the Brazilian presidential election 2022 and has already declared his stands for Eduardo Leite, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul[16]. He also stated that he is not afraid of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva been elected, if the new president comes with the right team, highlighting the name of Henrique Meirelles as a politician that could be “the minister of dreams” in an eventual new government of the former president[17]
