Richard Emanuel Ellis (born 1937) is an American historian and university professor who specialized in American constitutional history and states rights.[1]

Biography[edit]

Ellis was born on September 7, 1937 in New York City. He was the son of Daniel and Marion Ellis.[citation needed]

He married Sharon J. Waldfogel on February 8, 1959, and had four children.[citation needed]

He completed his Bachelors degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1960. He completed his Master of Arts degree at the University of California, Berkeley in 1961. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley in 1969.[citation needed]

He has served as a Professor of History at the State University of New York, Buffalo, since 1974.[citation needed]
