Richard Hageman
Richard Hageman (born May 27, 1992) is an American football coach and former player. He has served in coaching and analyst roles at several collegiate football programs and has worked in professional indoor football. Hageman is also credited as an actor with an appearance in the television series Yellowstone.
Early life and education
Hageman was born in Jordan, Montana, to Ray and Wanda Hageman. He grew up in Jordan and attended Garfield County High School, where he played football. His brother, Tyrone Hageman, was a Montana state champion javelin thrower and an All-State quarterback at Garfield County High School.
Hageman played college football at Montana Tech and later transferred to Montana State University, where he began his coaching career under head coach Rob Ash.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy, with a focus in business management, from Montana State University. He also studied sustainable energy while attending Montana Tech.
Playing career
As a player, Hageman was a Montana state record holder in football. He competed at the collegiate level for both Montana Tech and Montana State University.
Coaching career
After completing his playing career, Hageman joined the coaching staff at Montana State University, taking on early coaching responsibilities while finishing his undergraduate degree.
He later held various coaching and analyst positions, including:
University of Minnesota Crookston, coaching tight ends and fullbacks and assisting with special teams
Arizona Rattlers (Indoor Football League), working with offensive and special teams units
Northern Illinois University, serving in a defensive quality control role
Carroll College (Helena, Montana), assisting with running backs, special teams, and scout defense
Eastern Michigan University, working as a defensive analyst
Central Michigan University, serving as a defensive analyst for the Chippewas
Personal life
The Hageman family owns several businesses in Jordan, Montana, including a NAPA Auto Care Center, RW Repair, and a bait and tackle shop known as Bait Boys. Members of the family have been involved in Montana wildland firefighting efforts. Ray Hageman was recognized in 2017 in a commendation presented by U.S. Senator Steve Daines to President Donald Trump.
Film and television
Hageman appeared as an actor in the television series Yellowstone.
