Richard Kleiman
Richard Adam Kleiman (born in New York on November 27, 1977) He is co-founder of a company called 35 Ventures with his partner and long-time friend, NBA superstar Kevin Durant.
Kleiman displayed his entrepreneurial skills at a young age when he made money selling his toys as a child.[1] After playing high school basketball at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, he earned a scholarship to Boston University. He soon discovered an inclination for a different side of sports and dropped out of college.
He returned to New York and considered getting into the restaurant business. Instead, he earned enough as a bookie to invest in an urban music website. He worked as a music supervisor for ESPN in documentaries and worked on Jay-Z’s concert film, Fade to Black.[2]
He grew up as a die-hard New York Knicks fan.[3] He always wanted to do something with sports.
Career
Rich started his career in 1998 as a music supervisor at RadicalMedia, eventually becoming a manager and working there until 2004.[4]
Previously, Kleiman helped launch Roc Nation Sports, where he served as Vice President of the agency founded by Jay-Z. Kleiman started with Roc Nation in 2008 as a music manager representing Mark Ronson, Solange Knowles, Wale, Meek Mill, and others.[5]
Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation, assigned Rich to be VP of management of Roc Nation Sports, launched in April 2013, giving Rich the chance to make a career out of his two passions: hip-hop and sports. He was VP and an agent of the company, which had Durant as a client.
Kleiman, who started out exclusively representing musicians, was then hired by Durant in 2013 as his agent. In 2015, Kleiman started working only with Durant and, at the same time, he stepped down from his VP position at Roc Nation Sports. [5]
Since 2017, he has been co-founder of 35 Ventures.[6]
