Richard Reilly

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Richard Reilly is an Irish neuroscientist who has made significant contributions to the field of neuroengineering, particularly in the areas of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and electroencephalography (EEG). He is currently a professor at Trinity College Dublin and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Reilly received his Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from University College Dublin and his Ph.D. in medical electronics from the same institution. He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Michigan and the University of Auckland before returning to Trinity College Dublin in 2003.

One of Reilly's major areas of research is the development of BCIs, which use EEG signals to allow people to control devices or communicate with others using their thoughts. He has also made significant contributions to the development of algorithms for analyzing EEG signals, which can be used to diagnose and monitor neurological disorders such as epilepsy and dementia.

Reilly has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society's Early Career Achievement Award in 2008 and the Trinity College Dublin Provost's Teaching Award in 2019. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Biomedical Signal Processing.
