Richard T. Herman (born May 1, 1964) is an American immigration attorney. He is the founder of the Herman Legal Group and co-author of Immigrant, Inc.: Why Immigrant Entrepreneurs Are Driving the New Economy (2009).
Career
Following his admission to the Ohio Bar, Herman worked in Moscow, Russia, where he advised Russian and Ukrainian entrepreneurs engaged in business activities with the United States.[1] In 1995, Herman established the Herman Legal Group in Cleveland, Ohio.[2] He is admitted to practice in Ohio and before federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Herman has written commentary on immigration policy and economic development for Governing[3][4][5] and HuffPost.[6][7]
He has also written about high-skilled immigration policy, including proposals concerning investment in economically distressed areas and the concept of “High Skill Immigration Zones.”[8][9][10][11][12][13]
He has been cited in programs on immigrant entrepreneurship[14] and delivered presentations on immigration law and policy at Case Western Reserve University and the City Club of Cleveland.[15][16][17][18][19][20]
Herman has served on boards and advisory committees for organizations including the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, Global Detroit, and Global Cleveland.[21][22]
