Richard David Weedman (July 4, 1940 – October 16, 2024) was a noted American art collector and advocate for the arts, who was known particularly for his extensive knowledge of art history.[1] Weedman was the life partner and studio manager for artist Jonathan Green.[1][2] Weedman's career spanned many decades,[3] and was especially focused on the visual art and artifacts within the African Diaspora, including modernist African American and Afro-Latino artist, like Elizabeth Catlett, David Driskell, Sam Gilliam, Reynier Llanes, as well as the art and culture of the Geechee Gullah. Weedman was also a humanitarian and philanthropist.[4]
