Before being signed by Welsh Wrestling in 2021, Ricky Bamba spent over 15 years travelling around the world perfecting his craft as a professional wrestler and dance coach. Debuting as Ricky Bamba in 2008, he quickly rose up the ranks in the Australian wrestling scene where he became the longest reigning ‘Down Under Australian Champion’, holding the title for a record 6237 days.
Whilst on holiday in Lanzarote in 2021, Welsh Wrestling owner and promoter, Alan Ravenhill, spotted Ricky Bamba defending the Lanzarote Heavyweight Wrestling Championship and struck up an exclusive deal which saw Ricky Bamba perform exclusively for Welsh Wrestling and make Wales his home. Debuting in North Wales in October 2021, Ricky Bamba has quickly become one of Welsh Wrestling’s most popular performers. Known for his friendly but determined demeanour, Bamba entertains both young and old alike with his iconic ‘good vibes’ dance moves to the infectious tune of ‘La Bamba’. Bamba wrestles in his iconic tie dye vest, blue trousers and white boots, regularly giving out free colourful wrist bands to his army of fans.
It's not known what nationality Bamba is but it is thought he has Mexican heritage, wrestling in a blue lucha libra mask. Ricky Bamba is currently the Welsh Wrestling Heavyweight Champion after winning the prestigious prize on 24th August 2022 at the De Valence Pavilion, Tenby.
