Risë Norman

Risë Beth Norman (born February 23, 1963) is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett[1] in New York City (in their Corporate Department). She joined the firm in June 1997, starting at their Hong Kong office.[2]

Education

A 1981 graduate of George W. Hewlett High School, Risë attended Dartmouth College and received her A.B., magna cum laude, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She graduated with a J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1988 where she was an Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review.[3]

Career highlights

A former member of the Securities Regulation Committee, Norman is a former member of the Financial Reporting Committee of the New York Bar Association and a current member of the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association. She is a member of the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School[4] and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lawyers Division of the UJA-Federation.[5]

Her work includes advising on the IPO for Nashville-based Vanguard Health Systems[6] Norman was part of a group of lawyers representing the underwriters in connection with $2 billion in notes from Target Corporation.[7] and Precision Drilling Corporation when they were offering $400 million in Notes.[8]

Personal Life

The daughter of Renee and Herbert Norman of Woodmere, New York, she married Ross Markman on June 29, 2003.[9]
