Rita M. Rivera (born August 5, 1996) is a Honduran researcher[1] and psychologist. She graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University [2] and received a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and neuropsychology from Albizu University where she worked under Alfredo Ardila. She has published in various fields, including international psychology, trauma psychology[3] [4], neuropsychology, and medical psychology. Her research interests include the psychological well-being of college populations and ethnic/racial minorities.
Rivera was Chair of the Florida Psychological Association-Division of Graduate Students, Chair of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology-Division of Graduate Students[5] [6], and Student Representative of the American Psychological Association's Society of Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy. She further serves as representative of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society [7] and the National Latinx Psychological Association[8].
Rivera received several international academic awards, including the APA Division 45 A. Toy Caldwell-Colbert Distinguished Student Service Award (2022)[9], the APA Anastasi Advanced Graduate Student Award (2021)[10], and the APA Division 56 International Student Researcher Award (2021). [11]
She is a psychology resident at Duke University[12] and holds leadership positions as Student Representative of various divisions of the American Psychological Association. Rivera is representative for Honduras at the Sociedad Interamericana de Psicología and the author of Psychology Today blog "Physio & Psych." [13]
