From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

River Lane Research is a quantum computing startup based in Cambridge. Founded by University of Cambridge researcher Steve Brierley.[1] in 2016, the startup aims to bring forward the date at which quantum computing becomes useful by improving existing quantum algorithms and producing new ones. Primary focuses of the startup are software for Quantum computing and algorithms for Quantum chemistry on a quantum computer.

Scientific Contributions

Researchers at River Lane have made two significant contributions to the quantum variational algorithm for finding the ground state energies of molecules[2]. Their first contribution concerned an interpolation between the Quantum phase estimation algorithm and the quantum variational eigensolver, showing that the two could be combined for near term applications[3]. The second contribution demonstrated that quantum computers could efficiently calculate the energies of excited states of molecules using the aforementioned generalized VQE algorithm[4]. River Lane also maintains historic datasets from the past 20 years of quantum computing development[5].

Quantum Collective Knowledge

River Lane Research develops the software package QCK[6] in collaboration with dividiti – A quantum analogue of the Collective Knowledge (software) package for collaborative and reproducible research. This project aims to produce reproducible benchmarks for historic and contemporary quantum processors [7]
