Riverlinks Park is a park located in Clarkson, Western Australia, Western Australia. It is located beside Somerly Primary School and surrounded by residential areas.[1][2]
History
The first permanent settler with European ancestry in the area was Barnard Drummond Clarkson, a sheep-farmer who also held land in Toodyay, Western Australia. Clarkson first acquired a pastoral lease in 1888 of 13,000 acres in the areas comprising modern-day Mindarie, Clarkson, Quinns Rocks and Merriwa.
The ruins of the Clarksons' first homestead and home of the Mindarie Pastoral Company are today preserved in Riverlinks Park on Connolly Drive.[3]
Description
The park contains a green pathway either leading towards Somerly Primary School or the residential areas surrounding the park. There are two pavilions in the park with seats. The park also has a small river stream during the Winter season and is usually dry and empty in Summer. Many variations of birds can be found in the park, such as the pigeon, crow, kookaburra and Major Mitchell's cockatoo.[4] The park is surrounded by various different trees and flora which date back 100 years.
