Riverside High School (RVHS) is a public secondary school in the Leesburg subdivision Lansdowne, Virginia, a community in Loudoun County, Virginia. Riverside’s Band program is the Riverside Marching Rams and has competed in the JMU Parade of Champions and in USBands.
History
Riverside's band program was founded in 2015, under the direction of William Bramwell Smith IV, the former director of Broad Run High School.
Riverside's band consisted of approximately 20 marchers, with Grace Bruce as drum major. Their first show was titled Rise of the Ram in 2015, featuring music by Brian Balmages: Among the Clouds and Whale Warriors.
In 2016, the band performed Arabian Dreams, featuring selections from Disney: Arabian Nights, with Alexa Ramirez as drum major.
In 2017, the band performed Portraits of Jazz, featuring selections: Zoot Suit Riot, Beautiful Maria of My Soul, and Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing).
The Riverside Marching Rams won the Group 1A Virginia State Championship on October 21, 2017 at the USBands Virginia State Championship in Virginia Beach, VA. The Riverside Marching Rams won the Group 2A Virginia State Championship and placed second overall on October 20, 2018 at the USBands Mid-Atlantic Championship in Towson, MD.[2]
