Robert E. Bennett Sr (April 12, 1923 – August 20, 1995) was an American tennis player. As a teenager, he played in the 1942 US Open, but his career was cut short when he was drafted into WWII.
Biography[edit]
When Robert Edsol Bennett was born on April 12, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his father, Ralph, was 29 and his mother, Sophia, was 27. He had two sons with Marilynn Jean Rex. Both were lawyers and excellent athletes, one playing basketball for Dean Smith's North Carolina Tar Heels and drafted by the New York Knicks in the late rounds of the 1966 draft. He died on August 20, 1995, in his hometown, at the age of 72
