Robert C. Botti

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Robert C. Botti (born March 19, 1940), is a former mayor of Union City, New Jersey, who served in the year 1982.[1]

Political career[edit]

Botti, a former member of the Union City commission,[2] became mayor after the previous mayor, William V. Musto, was arrested on charges of federal racketeering.[3] Botti, who styled himself as a reformer,[1] then took office.[2] Botti had been in office only seven weeks when he himself was indicted for corruption,[3] and sentenced to 18 months in prison on charges of conspiracy, mail fraud and income tax evasion, as part of a scheme to rig bids for janitorial contracts.[1][3] Botti has been cited as a keen example of New Jersey's corrupt political culture.[1]
