Robert C Profusek is an Emmy-nominated American filmmaker, entertainment executive and entrepreneur.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Profusek was born January 7, 1980, in Cleveland, OH. He attended Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, completing a semester abroad at Oxford Sixth Form College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from Cornell University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.[3][4][5]

Career[edit]

Profusek’s career in media began covering scripts at Emerging Pictures (2005-2006). He worked as an associate producer at Kaleidoscope Productions (2005-2006) and for Lee Daniels Entertainment (2006-2007), was a programming consultant at YouTube (2011-2012) and for six years (2013-2019) was in charge of content strategy, live streaming, business development and as an executive producer at Condé Nast, encompassing GQ, Teen Vogue, Bon Appétit, Epicurious, Condé Nast Traveler, The New Yorker, Style.com, and WWD.[6][7]

In 2007, Profusek founded Toy Closet Films, producing the features Holy Rollers (2010), A Birder’s Guide to Everything (2013), Some Velvet Morning (2013), Bastards of Young (2013), The Girl Is in Trouble (2015) and Kusama: Princess of Polkadots (2018). His films appeared at the Sundance Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, the Berlinale and Slamdance.[1][8]

A member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science and the Producers Guild of America. Profusek also produced the award-winning digital series Twenty Five (2013) and The 3 Bits (2013).[9][10]

In 2011, he founded, and remains a managing partner at, Digital Harvest Capital, a New York City-based firm.[1]

Since 2019, he has been GM and CCO at BR Brands, a cannabis-goods company.[3]
