Roberto Alejandro Díaz Chevalier (born La Banda, 24 April 1995), known professionally as Robert Chevalier, is an Argentine writer.[1][2][3] He is a narrative author, mainly of suspense, fantasy and science fiction novels.[4][5]
Early life and education
Chevalier was born on April 24, 1995 in the city of La Banda, Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina.[3] He is the son of Adrián Roberto Díaz Chevalier and Marcela Ferrando, and the eldest of three siblings.[6] He is an engineering student at the Faculty of Agronomy and Agroindustries of the National University of Santiago del Estero.[5][7]
In 2016, he worked at Deep Portage Learning Center, in Minnesota, United States.[8][9]
Writing career
In 2014, at the age of 18, his first published work,[10] La Maldición de Cromwell, was declared of Cultural Interest[11] and, subsequently, selected to participate in the International Book Fair Salon du Livre de Paris in France,[12][13] obtaining since then several distinctions with his new publications.[14][15]
In 2015 his third book Telésfora, the first novel written about the popular Santiago’s legend of “La Telesita”,[16] became study material in schools, where it is worked on by children and young students.[17][18]
Since 2018, he participated in national and international competitions, resulting winner of awards and selected to integrate anthologies of stories from Spain and Argentina,[6] one of these by Ediciones Al Arco, the first Argentine sports publisher, whose jury included the writer Eduardo Sacheri.[14][19]
At the end of the same year, he presented his fifth book Los androides también lloran,[9] with the presence of the French writer and citizen Carlos Alvarado-Larroucau, in which they talked about science fiction, technology, artificial intelligence and literature.[20]
In 2022 he presented the novel Kakuy, based on a local legend of the Common potoo,[21] emphasizing in front of a large gathering of people[22] on topics such as racism, logging, the environment, animal protection, Native American peoples, African-Argentine culture, the role of women and abuse, among others.[23] It was declared of Provincial Interest by the Chamber of Deputies of Santiago del Estero[24] and it was also incorporated as reading material in schools along with other works of his authorship.[25][26][27]
