Robert Hall or Rab Ha' known as the Glasgow Glutton gained infamy across the West coast of Scotland living in the 19th century. Originally a farm worker he later in his life became a vagrant. [1]

Rab was famous for his enormous appetite and would often make money in and around the city by taking bets on the amount of food that he could consume. There are tales of him devouring a stone of potatoes in one sitting or in another instance eating an entire Calf baked into pies. His ability to both eat and drink to excess were legendary. [2]

Rab made the city of Glasgow his home and he would often be seen walking the streets in the evenings in a state of drunkenness. Of no fixed abode he would sleep on the streets or in hay lofts. Rab died in November 1843, reportedly of suffocation after falling into a drunken stupor in one of the cities hay lofts. [3]
