Robert Leiner, also known as Source and later as The Source Experience, born in Borås, Sweden in 1966,[1] is a Swedish electronic music composer and DJ based in Gothenburg. He has been part of the Swedish techno scene since the 1990s, and also worked for the Belgian label R&S Records.[2][3]
Career
In 1992 Leiner became the first Swede in techno to sign to a foreign label[4], moving to Ghent, Belgium to work for R&S Records as a studio manager and artist.[5] He published three albums in 18 months, and was called a "Swedish wunderkind".[6] His 1993 album Organised Noise was "exhilarating" with "pumping rhythms",[6] while the more ambient leaning Visions of the Past[7] under his own name in 1994 for R&S sub-label Apollo Records.[8] Visions of the Past as more ambient, and was well-reviewed.[7][9]
Leiner released music as Source until the British band The Source threatened legal action, when he changed his stage name to The Source Experience.[10] His early albums featured photos of his face, which was unusual for trance music in the early 1990s.[3]
