Robert Maximovich Tsoi(May 5 1938-) was a Soviet Korean engineer.

Early Life[edit]

Robert Maximovich Tsoi was born on May 5, 1938, in Kzyl-Orda, Kazakhstan. He received the name Ton.Er at birth. He has two brothers and only one sister. His father, Maxim Tsoi, known by his Korean name, Son Dyun Tsoi, together with his family, was deported from his hometown of Vladivostok to Kazakhstan.

Career[edit]

After graduating from the university, Maxim Tsoi went to work as an assistant foreman. To earn money for his own apartment in the capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty, he went to study coal mining instead and went to Vorkuta for almost a year. When he returned to Leningrad, he worked as an engineer in the design bureau of a factory called Elektrosila and later worked on developing non-standard equipment for Soyuz Trans Mash Proekt (also a factory).
