From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Robert Rother (born 1950) is a German businessman. He is a Spiegel bestselling author of Dragon Years about his life while detained 7 years in Dongguan Prison, China.

Detention

Robert Rother was sentenced for 8 years in China following a conviction for financial fraud. During his incarceration at Dongguan Prison in southern China, Rother claimed to be subjected to forced labor, working nine-hour days, six days a week, and witnessed severe abuses, including the use of electric shocks on inmates. He described the prison environment as dehumanizing, with inmates compelled to obey guards unquestioningly and endure harsh conditions. He was released in December 2018.[1][2]
