Roberta Sinatra
Roberta Sinatra is a network scientist, data scientist and associate professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. She holds a Ph.D in Physics and a M.Sc. in Theoretical physics from the University of Catania. She held postdoctoral and associate research scientist positions at the Center for Complex Network Research and Physics Department at Northeastern University, and was a visiting research scholar at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School. She was an assistant professor at the Central European University.
Roberta Sinatra is the coordinator of the NEtwoRks, Data, and Society (NERDS) research group at the IT University of Copenhagen[1]. She is also an external faculty at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna and a ISI Fellow of the ISI foundation[2]. Her work focuses on understanding social systems based on large data sets and applying machine learning and statistical methods to analyze social systems. She is known for studying complex social systems and the theory and applications of network science. Her work on “Quantifying the evolution of individual scientific impact” that she co-authored has been featured in the New York Times[3]. Other relevant articles Dr. Sinatra co-authored include "Historical comparison of gender inequality in scientific careers across countries and disciplines"[4], which investigates the gender inequality in academic publishing, and "The chaperone effect in scientific publishing"[5], which focuses on the impact of experience and seniority in publishing within prestigious scientific journals.
Dr. Sinatra is the recipient of the 2020 Complex Systems Society Junior scientific awards[6] and the Young Scientist Award for Socio- and Econophysics of the German Physical Society (DPG).
