Robin is a humanoid robot[1][2][3] developed by Shuvo Karmaker, a Bangladeshi schoolboy.[4][5][1][6][7][8][9][excessive citations] It can speak in both Bangla and English.[10][11][12] Robin has received widespread media attention, and became very popular in Bangladesh. It is the first robot made by a school student in Bangladesh.[2][11][12][13][14][excessive citations]
Development[edit]
Karmaker, a teenager from a small village in Barisal was impressed by a similar robot called Sophia that speaks English and looks like a female human.[4] He had no experience in robotics, so he started learning about robotics and programming from the Internet.[6][13] On May 25, 2018 he began working on a robot, and eight months later the tenth-grader built 'Robin', a robot that can speak and answer questions in both Bengali and English.[3][12] He only had a small budget and despite robotics projects being very expensive he made Robin with minimal costs.[4][7][4] He is working to improve the robot.[14][not in citation given] According to an article written by a student at Ibn Taimiya School and College published on Rising BD the robot is working as a medical assistant and can perform COVID-19 testing.[15][dubious ]
