Robyn Moore Gibson
Robyn Moore Gibson, born Robyn Denise Moore in 1956, is an Australian former dental nurse who gained fame as the first wife of actor Mel Gibson.
Biography[edit]
The two met in the late 1970s when they were tenants in the same share house in Adelaide, Australia. Robyn fell pregnant[1] and they were married on June 7, 1980, in Forestville, Sydney.[2]
Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore Gibson eventually shared seven children together.[3]
Robyn filed for divorce in April 2009 after the couple had reportedly been separated for three years.[4] The divorce was finalised in 2011[4] culminating in what is believed to be the largest ever Hollywood divorce settlement at an estimated US$425M.[5]
Robyn had issued a statement of support during Mel Gibson's court battles with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in 2010, saying that “Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage”.[6]
Robyn spent tens of millions of dollars USD on several Malibu Beach properties between 2011 and 2020[7] and, in 2021, sold one of those properties[3] for US$29.2M.[8]
Robyn is Emeritus Board Member of Mending Kids International, a charity providing free life-saving surgical care to sick children.[9]
