The Rocket City Curling Club (or RCCC) is a curling club located in Huntsville, Alabama.[1] Established in 2018[2] as the first association in Alabama dedicated to the Olympic sport of curling[3] (and incorporated as a non-profit[4] in 2019), the RCCC has since grown to become one of the largest arena curling clubs in the Southeast United States.

Operations

The Rocket City Curling Club hosts weekly curling leagues, "Learn-To-Curl" introductory classes,[5] and annual bonspiel tournaments.[3] The RCCC currently curls out of the Huntsville Ice Sports Center.[6][7]

Bonspiels

The RCCC hosts two annual bonspiels: the Rock-It City, an open bonspiel with 32 teams from across the U.S.,[8][9] and the Brad Forrest Classic, an 8-team club bonspiel to qualify for Grand National Curling Club tournaments and other events. In December 2021, the RCCC announced the establishment of The Space Race[10], a qualifying event for USA Curling's 5-and-Under national championship for curlers with five or fewer years of experience.[11][12]

Tyler George, 2018 Olympic gold medalist in curling, attended the RCCC's first Rock-It City bonspiel in 2019.[13]
