Rocket Racing is a racing game developed and published by Epic Games in association with Psyonix. It was released on December 8, 2023 for Android, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game can be accessed and played inside of the Fortnite game application.

Gameplay[edit]

Rocket Racing is an arcade racer in which up to 12 players race against each other in rocket-powered cars on a variety of tracks filled with various obstacles and shortcuts.[1][2][3] Players have the option of racing in ranked or private (unranked) races, whether with friends or by themselves.

On May 1, 2019, Psyonix announced that they would be acquired by Epic Games.

4 years later on December 8, 2023, Rocket Racing was released.[4]

Release[edit]

The preview for the game was first revealed during The Big Bang event on December 2, 2023 through the following day, alongside two other then-upcoming game modes, Lego Fortnite and Fortnite Festival, with the game being released on December 8, 2023, for the majority of platforms supported on the base game.[5]

Upon launch, the game reached over 625,683 concurrent users, surpassing the player counts of Save the World and Fortnite Creative.

Reception[edit]

Gabriel Moss of IGN gave it a rating of 6/10, saying that "there was certainly fun for a few rounds, but there's not enough here yet to stay fresh very long".[6]
