Roger Friend (born 2 May 1945) is a British former racing driver known for his involvement in UK motorsport during the 1960s and his later return to historic Formula One racing in the 1980s. He is particularly associated with the iconic Lotus 78 chassis JPS15, which he raced in several historic events.
Early career
Friend began racing in the 1960s, competing in British club-level motorsport. A noted performance includes his participation in a race at Brands Hatch in April 1968, where he competed closely with drivers such as Ian Bax.[1]
Historic racing return
After a long break from competition, Friend returned to racing in the 1980s, participating in historic Grand Prix events. He is most closely associated with the John Player Special Lotus 78, a car originally driven by Mario Andretti in the 1977 Formula One season.
