Roi Shternin (Hebrew: רועי שטרנין; born April 29, 1983) is an Israeli patient advocate, entrepreneur, author, and speaker who has revolutionized patient empowerment and healthcare systems.

Early Life[edit]

Early Life and Education Shternin was born in Hadera, Israel, and studied Health and Science Education at Kibbutzim College of Education in Tel Aviv, graduating in 2014. Health Challenges and Diagnosis In his 20s, Shternin began experiencing debilitating symptoms while working as an EMT. He spent nearly a decade immobilized due to being misdiagnosed. In 2012, at the age of 27, Shternin diagnosed himself with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system and causes a rapid heart rate upon standing. Advocacy Work and Organizations Inspired by his experience, Shternin founded organizations focused on patient empowerment, including the Israeli Society for Dysautonomia. He also founded The Patient School to educate patients globally. Shternin served as Chief Patient Officer at institutions in Israel and Austria, and co-founded Health Tech Without Borders to expand healthcare access internationally.

Shternin delivers over 200 keynotes annually worldwide on topics like resilience and patient-centered care. His TED Talk on empowering patients has millions of views and has helped pioneer the global patient empowerment movement.
