The Roland MC-707 Sampling Groovebox (or Beat Production Workstation) combines the features of a synthesizer, sequencer, sampler and Loop System, with control of the sound engine and the sequencing flow.

It was released by Roland Corporation on September 5, 2019[2] . It is the direct successor to the Roland MC-808.

Sound generation[edit]

The MC-707 has a ROM-based sound generator and looper. Roland's literature states that the MC-707 uses ZEN-Core synthesis with 128 voices (varies according to the sound generator load). It also includes a looper with 8 voices(varies according to the available number of Looper track). This provides 128-Voice Synthesizer Module. The built-in sounds are drawn from the TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, Juno-106, SH-101, and PCM Sounds. The number of Preset Tones is 3,000 (or greater) and 80 (or greater) Preset Drum Kits.

Sequencer[edit]

The MC-707's sequencer is based on pattern composition. Each pattern has 8 tracks and can have up to 999 measures (bars).

Comparison to the MC-101[edit]

Both the MC-101 and the MC-707 have the same core sound engine with around 3600 synth presets and over 600 drum samples and dozens of kits, but the 101 gives you more limited access to changing that sound engine's parameters and creating your own presets. [3]
