Romanian Principalities (disambiguation)
Romanian principalities is a generic term for all supposed Romanian forms of any state formation previously existing in the territory of the former Dacia to the creation of the first Romanian national state, named initially United Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia or, for short, United Principalities. This process of the completion of the creation of Romanian national state occurred between the 5th of January / 24th of January 1859 and the 11th of February 1866, became internationally recognized as an independent state in 1878. Later on, following the Great Union Day of the 1st of December, 1918 and the Paris Peace Conference, the Treaty of Trianon and the Treaty of Paris in 1920, the state developed to Greater Romania.
This generic name applies to all supposed Romanian state forms, documented historically or not, existing between 500 - 800 and 1859 (after Christ), until 24 January 1859, when the process of creating and crystallizing the unitary Romanian state started.[1]
