Ron Koas (Hebrew: רון קואס) is an Israeli-born educator, reporter, and children's book writer.

Biography

Koas was born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1961 and, after serving in the Israel Defense Forces, studied at the Beit Tzvi Theatre Academy before switching to Levinsky Teachers College, where he received a bachelor's degree in Education. He later received a master's degree in Educational Administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Koas taught history, geography and Israel studies to middle school and high school students, and was a member of the senior administration of Rothberg High School in Ramat HaSharon.

In 1999, Koas was selected to represent Israel for the Progressive Zionist Movement in Melbourne, Australia, where he was involved in the synagogue, school, and youth group communities. Following his three-year term in Australia, Koas moved to the United States in 2002, serving as director of education at the Park Avenue Synagogue in Manhattan. He simultaneously served as editor-in-chief of the Hebrew-language newspaper supplement "Here and There" (Hebrew: שם-פה), and made guest appearances on the Israeli "Voice of the Heart" (Hebrew: קול-הלב) radio-broadcast talk show.

In 2011, Koas was appointed head of school of the Syracuse Hebrew Day School, a Jewish community day school in central New York. He worked at the Syracuse Hebrew Day School from July 1, 2011 until May 4, 2012. In 2012, Koas began working at the North Shore Jewish Center and South Huntington Jewish Center. In 2013, Koas became the education director and assistant rabbi of the Marlboro Jewish Center in Marlboro, New Jersey.

Koas is married to Miriam Eckstein-Koas, a special education teacher and adjunct professor at Touro College. Together they have three children and live in Huntington, New York, New York, on Long Island.

Books

Koas released a book entitled "Here and There" (Hebrew: שם-פה), a compilation of articles. In 2012, he released a book in Israel titled Daddy You are Mixed-Up.[1] Hebrew: (אבא אתה מבולבל). He is now working on his next children's novel.
