Ronni Oscar Castillo Alcantara (born October 27, 1986) a Dominican film director who was born in the Municipality of El Llano, Elias Pina.

Biography[edit]

[Ronni Oscar Castillo Alcantara, a Dominican film director who was born in the Municipality of EL Llano, a town which is connected to the boundary of Haiti in Dominican Republic, on October 27 in 1986. Ronnie Oscar is well-known for directing several exceptional Dominican movies.

Career[edit]

In 2011, he directed a short film titled ‘Melodiosa Soledad’ which represents the country in various international festivals in metropolitan cities such as Brussels, Mexico and Paris. On several occasions, Ronni Oscar additionally worked as a local producer for world famous television channels such as Discovery, BBC, NATGEO and UNIVISION. In the year 2013, Ronni Oscar’s first fictional feature film was released titled ‘Who is Boss?’ which is a Dominican Republic comedy film that pivots around a puzzling sentimental tale of two youthful and enthusiastic people looking for amusing life experiences . In 2014, his subsequent film was released titled ‘The One that covers much’. Later in the following year 2015 his movie ‘Accounts Receivable’ was filmed However the movie was actually released in 2016 after its completion. His most recent movie is ‘libelula’ which is released in 2021.

Ronni Oscar was honored to receive the award for best film director for his first feature film named ‘Who Is Boss?’ in 2013 at the La Silla Awards, making him the first Dominican film director to receive such an award. This movie was additionally chosen by the delegates of Dominican Republic to represent the country as the best foreign dialect film for the 86th Academy Awards.
