Room 101 was an Australian hard rock band active in the Sydney music scene between 1979 and 1980. Room 101 played a mixture of originals inspired by the Detroit rock era, along with psychedelic garage music of the 1960's and later bands such as The Velvet Underground, as well as Australian rock bands from the 1960's. Formed by Tom Price (singer), Arthur Easton (bass player) and Tom Easton (guitarist) they were joined by Steve Rawle (drummer). Bruce Tindale (guitarist) joined the band later in 1979. They played regular performances at the Vulcan Hotel, Ultimo and the Sussex Hotel, Sydney CBD. In 1980 they recorded two original tracks, 'Concrete Box' and Crazy for You' at Axent Studios in Kogarah, Sydney. Tom Price took the master tape to the USA in the mid 1980's hoping to find a pressing plant, however, the tape was subsequently mislaid. In 2021 a clean cassette dub from the original master tape was digitally transferred and restored by Ernie Oppenheimer. A single featuring both songs was released in April 2022 on Lost in Paddington Records. Arthur Easton resigned from the band in 1980 and was replaced by Ian Shields (bass guitarist) and Bruce Tatham (keyboards) also joined the band. Room 101 broke up late in 1980.
