Roots & Fruits is a British animated children's TV series...[1] The show was produced by Edinburgh-based production company, Plum Films.[2], for BBC children's channel CBeebies, with support from Screen Scotland's Broadcast Content Fund[3]. The show was first broadcast in the UK in October 2022.[4]
Using 2D character animation[5], the series focuses on bringing to life a variety of fruits and vegetables, incorporating fun facts throughout the show with spectacular performances and catchy songs in order to help teach children to recognise and appreciate different fruits and vegetables[6][7]. The tagline for the show is "Your ultimate 5 (minutes) a day"[8]
The show was shortlisted for Best Pre-School Programme at the 2024 Broadcast Awards[9][10] and was selected as a finalist at Prix Jeunesse International Festival 2024[11]
